Hondo Hondo Tented Camp employs staff from the local community and works with local villagers on a variety of levels. The vast majority of the food that our guests consume is produced locally.
The hotel sponsors the local Schools Environment Day providing an excursion to Mikumi National Park for local children from the winning school. Any donations towards the local schools may be left at reception.
The local community drumming group will come and perform at Hondo Hondo on request. This is traditional celebation music and is truly frenetic. The drumming group is a collaboration between several tribal groups from the area and demonstrate the harmonious interaction of the local people despite a varied tribal background.
The village of Mangula is made up of mainly three tribes, Wapogoro, Wandamba and Wabena. There are some Wahehe and other groups present.
